Welcome inn.......Freemasons aka Munro's
Rawson Arms aka The Stump
Went here so many times with my parents
Very clever lyrics
Lovely mix of pictures and music. Hard times but managed to have clean streets in those days!
Farnworth park looks tropical.. Beautiful. Now it's just a few tarmac paths and grass with dog muck landmines. Many of the big, grand buildings that say they were in Farnworth, are long since been knocked down. Now, I don't feel I'm living in England anymore. No one speaks English and those that do are drunk and violent.
They even moved Bolton , it's in Greater Manchester now .
Nice collection of pictures. I really must get along there this year.
Ahh the flying bottle
I used to go to English Martyrs RC secondary mod in Farnworth not far from the Royal Bolton Hospital, formally called Royal Infirmary at the end of Minerva Road. They rebuilt the school sometime in the 1990s and renamed it Mount St Joseph for some reason. I hope they got the central heating right because the one we had in the old building was totally useless.
No photo of the big fibreglass giant you could see tower over you as you arived at the front gate?😊 I've lived in Clacton all my life, and it has sadly gone down hill. All the life long locals say, "when Butlins went, Clacton went down hill and has got gradually worse ever since" Great memories of better times.
I won 1st place in the fancy dress competition in 1974..i was 6 years old .. i won a £2:00 Butlins Cheque .. which i could spend in the Butlins shops... i bought a Dartboard and some other bits for my £2:00..... was there a Beaver Club as well? I also remember my Mum dropping me off to see a kids show with Clarence the Rabbit.. if i'm not mistaken. Mum and my Aunt were off partying while i was at the show...except i didn't follow all the other kids off to where they were supposed to go afterwards..... got myself lost. Ended up in lost property until Mum came to collect me .....remember my first go on a trampoline ....as well as the Giant slot car track/ Scalextric . Remembered the what felt like forever Journey to clacton in Grandads Car from Croydon. Great times ..now sadly lost to time
I went to Clacton butlins every year for two weeks ,(until it closed down) I joined the beaver club and won loads of prizes
I worked at John Read bookshop on Newport Street between 1965 and 1970, wonderful memories. Happy days.
i forgot how grey farnworth looked. I remember working at Queens when i was 18, glad i moved out of bolton and moved to West London. But i bet the guy who owned the R34 Skyline at the 3:00 Min mark wishes he never got rid of it, they are worth more than the houses in farnworth now.
Now an absolute dump brought on by Cliff Morris & the traffic wardens & no that’s not a music band or pop group!
Didn't they do ' Money, Thats What I Want' 😂😂
Has two childhood holidays there [8yo and 14 yo].
Terry have you got any pictures of the New Inn in Coe Street.😊 My Nanna and Granddad ran that pub in the late 40s early 50s.
Cliff Morris destroyed Bolton end of supported by current liebour councillors who shall remain nameless!!!!!
who are the singers on here I used to go to folk night years ago bit i dont remember some of the singers but i dont think ivr hrard these before Love the music and the video thank you very much
The "Lancashire Hotpots"
What have we done.
Happy memories of a great childhood coming to butlins clacton for holidays from London, retired now and guess what live in clacton love it lol.
Remember going to jaywick in the late 60s early 70s with my parents ...was a wonderful place ❤
Any ideas what the big pipes are for???? Storm drainage would be my guess…….
I went to clacton in 63 I been to butlins ever since
I work as a waitress in 63 may have waited on you
Agree totally
is that a joke, people will drown before they get there. what a waste of money
Everywhere is shut these days because these younger ones are too lazy to work
Went there in '82 and '83 great memories, and some of the tunes in the charts evoke memories too. I remember the arcade which was just outside the main gate and this motorised ol' hillbilly grannie in a rocking chair advertising a shooting gallery by saying "come on down to the shootin' gallery... happy shootin' ".
Clacton has deteriorated beyond recognition i remember working at Butlins 1982 it had the wow factor back then so alive and happening now full of charity shops and teenie bopper mums on drugs. Sad 😢
What is the minimums to see eastern, Kent? Can you see into northern France & Belgium, especially at twilight?
I always think of the Giant Roster when I think of Butlins Clacton .
Wow this is where my dads dna starts I kept my maiden name whitworth
Towards the end it got as rough as hell.... Lot of those holiday parks along there were notorious!
Notorious for what?
@@johndaarteest Fights.
@@pup1008 ah ok thanks for letting me know.
@@johndaarteest No problem! Funny enough I'm in Walton now that's about 8 miles from Clacton. I went to a caravan park in Clacton back in the 80's & man it was rough. Multiple fights every night, husband fighting wives, kids causing havoc, drunkenness, antisocial behavior.... It was awful! They might have cleaned the ones that remained up but from reading the reviews on Trippy of the main one here in Walton, they don't look that great! 😕
Even the shops that were "now" a decades ago are nearly all gone.
I grew up in Bolton loved my youth there. I went to Bolton County Grammar school 1974 to 79. We went to the Nevada 3 times a week and Scamps on Saturday nights. Then onto Bolton chippy bar. Absolutely great times they really were!!
If this had been built nowadays it would have gone in seconds, just goes to show how good construction was in those days.
when life was oh so sweet, and normal, the gold old days.
It takes my breath knowing most people on these clips have since passed away. Bolton what a town past and present proud to come from Bolton.
Work there 1963 - 64 best time ever met my husband 58 years on still together .
been there in winter "63 -"64 perhaps we met,..? still greetings ,,,John from the Netherlands
My best childhood memories were at Butlins Clacton... loved it.
Mine too
The saddle used to be my local, and a used to be a disc jockey in the Royal as well , if i could turn back time
great history, have you any idea as to what year the photo of harper green is taken with the kids digging the garden i am wondering if i am on it
the people you see there mainly are piss heads and junkies
Everyone had a pushbike sturmey archer gears
Down memory lane lmfao those hats the women bought hug me slowly kiss me quick
Does Butlins still exist in Clacton? Special memories for kiss me quick hug slowly 😴
Not anymore unfortunately....
The whole area is just a big housing estate now.
Now an awful housing estate criminal
Shut in 1987.
What happened to the miniature railway, where did it run to and from ?
Esse cantor além de lindo fez muito sucesso. Gosto muito de algumas músicas dele. Muito bom.
